GDIT is looking to fill Scrum Master who holds active DOD secret clearance.

The position will support a US Air Force program that is playing a major role in the safety oversight of commercial air carriers currently engaged in doing business with the DoD. The Air Carrier Analysis System (ACAS) is a web-based application that enables this collection and analysis of the commercial air carrier oversight data.

GDIT will develop and deliver a modernized ACAS application that provides an integrated operational analysis capability for safety analysis of accidents and incidents, operations, maintenance, financial analysis, and service quality information for both domestic and foreign commercial air carrier supporting DoD and makes them available to programmatic stakeholders throughout the program’s lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and facilitate SCRUM ceremonies: daily standups, Sprint Planning/Grooming, Sprint Reviews/Demos, and Retrospectives

  • Maintain JIRA and other information radiators for the teams

  • Mentor and coach team members and program stakeholders on core Agile values, principles, practices, and processes

  • Enable team to become self-organizing and self-managing to achieve its goals

  • Motivate teams to perform and ensure team members are collectively responsible for all aspects of the committed work (analysis, development, testing, documentation, etc.) 

  • Identify, address, and communicate project risks, dependencies, and team impediments

  • Ensure the team’s “definition of done” is well defined on the story, sprint, and release levels

  • Facilitate productivity through discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution

  • Shield the team from external interferences

  • Assist with internal and external communication, and improving transparency

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised with an emphasis on problem solving

  • Assess the Scrum maturity of the team and coach the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team

  • Coach a continuous improvement mindset and recommend adjustments to established delivery practices

  • Participate in Scrum of Scrum meetings to ensure cross-team collaboration and coordination of release plans and integration of testing activities

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including customers

  • Coordinates and monitors the scrum process from initiation through delivery

 
Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’ degree plus 2+ years’ experience or equivalent work experience; total six (6) years experience

  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM and/or PMI-ACP)

  • Experience managing projects following Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming, and/or SAFe

  • Experience managing multi-system projects and self-organized, cross-functional project teams in a matrixed environment

  • Familiar with Agile values, principles, processes, and methods such as iterative and incremental development, continuous integration, test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, code refactoring, pair programming, and Scrum ceremonies

  • Experience working with customers in gathering requirements, modeling use cases, writing user stories and documenting business processes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be effective at communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Moderate knowledge of the JIRA tracking tool

  • Energetic, goal oriented, proactive, innovative, hardworking, and patient 

Preferred:

  • Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Practitioner)

  • 2-5 years agile team facilitation experience (e.g. Scrum Master, Agile Facilitator etc.)

  • SAFe 5 certification

  • Experience on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)

  • Some knowledge of development environments, platforms, and technologies

  • Well versed in a variety of agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean at a minimum)

  • Experience providing program, portfolio and team level process, mentoring and coaching to senior leadership, portfolio managers and/or teams

  • Experience with ad-hoc coaching and mentoring techniques
