REQ#: RQ43438

At GDIT, people are our differentiator.  Our work depends on an HPC Solution Architect joining our team to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputer System (WCOSS).  This position is part-time and 100% remote.

WCOSS provides NOAA the operational High Performance Computing (HPC) resources essential to process sophisticated numerical models used to predict and understand atmospheric and oceanic phenomena for weather and climate operational use.  Operating 24/7, the next 10-year WCOSS program will deliver significant computational capability that will evolve over time to keep pace with NOAA’s growing environmental modeling needs.

We are looking for individuals to join GDIT’s team to deploy, operate and support leading-edge technology for WCOSS.  Specific technology training will be provided.

We think. We act. We deliver. There is no challenge we can’t turn into opportunity.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Analyzing user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level HPC system architecture to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Developing detailed system architecture and system design documentation.
  • Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans, and system integration and test plans.
  • Developing system configuration documentation, including detailed designs for capacity planning, security systems and disaster recovery.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 15+ years of experience working on all phases of HPC systems analysis.
  • Experience working in a 24X7 operational environment.
