General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has a future opportunity for a Deputy Program Manager to support diverse activities of a complex scientific computing program. In this position, you will apply an advanced level of project and program management knowledge to manage cost, schedule and technical performance for multiple simultaneous projects. The ideal candidate will bring experience in scientific computing or related domains (e.g. High Performance Computing (HPC); Petascale storage, Big Data, Data Science, Bioinformatics, scientific application development) and be capable of providing technical oversight and troubleshooting as required. Working closely with the Program Manager you will contribute to strategic oversight. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of working with diverse stakeholders often with competing requirements in developing efficient solutions to address advanced research and scientific computing initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as are strong verbal and written communication skills. Ideally, you should have hands-on experience with the usage relevant technologies within a regulated environment such as FDA, CMS or CDC.
Provide expert program and project management support to ensure technical, cost, schedule, staffing, and performance meet and exceed customer expectations
Provide ongoing formal and ad hoc reporting for contract deliverables
Develop and maintain all required program management documentation including plans, requirements, schedules, rosters, and related artifacts to GDIT and client expectations
Support staff management for cross-functional team including hiring, performance management, and day-to-day contract operations.
Support clear and transparent communications across diverse stakeholder groups and project teams
Identify, manage, and track Risks through resolution
Ensure project deliverables adhere to appropriate government and regulatory compliance requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent experience) in finance, business administration or related discipline
5+ years management experience
5+ years IT organizational support ideally with teams of more than 40 staff
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong presentation skills
Able to pass government background check and obtain clearance as required by the contract
Desired Skills and Experience:
Masters’ degree (or equivalent) in finance, business administration or related discipline
5+ years’ experience in scientific IT project management is highly desired
5+ years’ experience supporting computational science, research computing, scientific computing, IT, bioinformatics, or comparable cross functional initiatives involving life science projects is highly desired
5+ years working in a regulatory environment
Previous experience within a regulated environment such as FDA, CMS or CDC.
Experience working with or supporting research or scientific computing infrastructure including High Performance Computing (HPC), large scale storage, and virtualization
Experience in development and delivery of Operations and Maintenance support for scientific community
Working knowledge of federal information security and compliance requirements as they align to scientific computing needs.
