Job Description
  • Processes Authorized Service Interruption (ASI) for all local and DISA published ASIs. Maintain full situational awareness throughout the execution of ASIs that impact, or have the potential, to adversely impact USSOUTHCOM IT Enterprise Operations.

  • Monitor DoDIN AO SOUTHCOM Enterprise Constructed Networks for abnormal behavior that predicts or demonstrates service interruptions associated with outages, degradations, and hazardous conditions. Make recommendations for improvements for monitoring tools that yield better situation awareness.

  • Track USSOUTHCOM Operational & Exercise activities that facilitates the dissemination of information that better informs USSOUTHCOM JDOC decision making processes during the execution of system changes and ASI.

  • Monitor and collect all pertinent information associated with circuit and/or service outages throughout the lifecycle of the outage. Coordinate and direct JDOC team members throughout the restoral process. Ensure all information inclusive of operational risk is fully articulated to the JDOC Battle Captain to facilitate the decision-making process. Maintain 24/7/365 situational awareness throughout and publish Communications Status documentation as required.

  • Work closely with the Enterprise Problem Manager to facilitate the collection of information required to effectively execute root-cause analysis and development of improvement recommendations.

  • Work closely with the Enterprise Change Manager to ensure ASIs are processes as required to facilitate approved changes.

  • Support the information collection and dissemination that facilitates the development of JDOC briefings.

  • Serve as an afterhours and weekend liaison for service desk incidents and requests. Initiate break-fix actions as prioritized by the USSOUTHCOM JDOC Battle Captain. Document all non-priority requests/incidents for delivery to service desk management staff during regular working hours.

  • Assist in the creation and/or improvement of documented processes associated with execution of Coordinating Activity duties and responsibilities. Ensure strict adherence to process execution in accordance with the latest approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

  • Ensure all circuits that provide primary, secondary and/or tertiary links are well documented and accessible within the JDOC. Maintain an understanding of the operational significance of all circuit and/or service outages. degradation, and/or hazardous conditions and can make recommendations for circuit failover.

  • Provide weekly activity report (WAR) and subsequent monthly report inputs to the CA Lead for all Coordinating Activity tasks accomplished, future planned activities, and concerns/risks.

  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the Operations Center Lead, Battle Captain, and CA Lead.

  • This position requires non-traditional shiftwork to provide 24/7/365 onsite coverage within the USSOUTHCOM's Joint DoDIN Operations Center. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of experience performing duties as operations, systems. or technical control watch officer, 8+ years of experience utilizing a variety of network monitoring tools.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • Secret, with ability to obtain Top Secret
