Software Engineer

GDIT is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to help support our Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) program.  

As a Full Stack Developer, you will work for our NAVSUP OIS program, based in Mechanicsburg, PA to collaboratively architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will be a part of determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle of a mission critical product including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. The right candidate will be working with our program’s developers, engineers, operations, and integration teams to support a complex program to provide Agile development and operations and maintenance on a mission-critical program.

This is a hybrid position.  It may be performed remotely with a one day on-site requirement.  Candidates are required to be located within commuting distance of Mechanicsburg, PA or Yorktown, VA sites in order to accommodate a hybrid schedule and for site emergencies.

In this role, a typical day will include:
•    Will work within a fast-paced Agile DevOps team contributing and collaborating within your scrum team on a daily basis.
•    Analyze software requirements and provide solutions.
•    Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions.
•    Provide Full Stack software development support for User Interfaces, REST APIs, Data Access Layers.
•    Ensure software developed passes and completes stages within the CI pipeline.
•    Write automated test such as: unit, integration, functional, 508, performance, and end-to-end
•    Develop in environments that utilize CI/CD tools for build, test, secure and deploy
•    Develop in a Docker and Docker Compose environment
•    Work with others on product teams to develop solutions to hard problems that are impeding progress.
•    Effectively communicate technical challenges, options considered, and the recommended solution to team leads. 

Qualifications:
•    Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start
•    Certification Requirement: Directive 8570.1/8140 - IAT I: A+ or Security+
•    Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant Agile Software Development experience.
•    Proficient in Frontend UI development with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, React, Angular, Vue 
•    Proficient in developing data access layers using Oracle Database Schemas
•    Experience in Web Based Full Stack Development
•    Experience developing in a Docker and Docker Compose environment
•    Experience writing automated test such as: unit, integration, functional, 508, performance, and end-to-end.
•    Experience developing in environments that utilize CI/CD tools for build, test, secure and deploy
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
•    Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Interface with software developers, analysts, and other project team members using Agile SCRUM methodology and SAFe to deliver features that enhance system capabilities and facilitate NAVSUP OIS’s mission.

Desired Qualifications:
•    Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
•    Experience working with AWS tools and environments
•    Experience developing in a microservices architecture
•    Automated Test-Driven Development (ATDD) frameworks Selenium, Nightwatch, Cucumber, JUnit/TestNG
•    Experience with secure development, coding, scanning using tools such as Fortify, SonarQube, ZAP and Twistlock/Anchore
•    Preferred experience with Jira or a similar scrum management tool
•    Experience with Asynchronous messaging preferably with Kafka. Other tools/protocols such as JMS, AMQP, RabbitMQ acceptable
•    Experience deploying microservices to Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift, EKS, AKS
•    Experience developing Web Services using SOAP/XML and REST/JSON
•    Preferred experience with Linux servers and scripting
•    Writing queries with relational databases
•    Web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery, TypeScript
•    Experience working with Oracle Forms and Repots
•    Experience with Ionic and CapacitorJS mobile development
•    Experience working with Jenkins Continuous integration tools and DevOps automation
•    Navy experience preferred
