GDIT is seeking a full-time Senior ServiceNow Developer to be an important part of our platform support and development team based out of Windsor Mill, MD. Our environment is in the cloud and we are actively using modules within the ITSM, ITBM and ITOM suites.  There is a large demand here for new capabilities in the platform and we are looking for an experienced integrator and developer to help improve our discipline in supporting this critical platform, and broaden its impact through module expansion, platform integration and automation. 

The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource regarding the configuration, development, support, and maintenance of the ServiceNow implementation and have fluency in ServiceNow design and development principles that enable them to work with external development partners and key stakeholders to develop enterprise business solutions for our customers that leverage ITIL processes and best practices.

ServiceNow (SN) is used across all of our teams and scope includes incident management, problem management, service catalog, change management, release management, agile, resource management, knowledge management, service call, configuration management database (CMDB) including discovery, event management, and Continual Improvement Management (CIM), etc.

During COVID this position is 100% remote. Post-COVID it is negotiable whether this position will remain full-time remote, or a hybrid with some % of on-site work at the Windsor Mill Maryland location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure overall systems availability via good design/best practices, thorough testing, promotion discipline and responsiveness in root cause analysis.
  • Partner with leadership to maintain and drive towards an aggressive platform roadmap.
  • Demo platform capabilities to shape what is possible/recommended, not simply taking orders; rapidly prototype new solutions.
  • Interact with platform customers and translate their business requirements into actionable development tasks. (as a complement to our business analyst)
  • Reliably estimate relative work effort for various requests for self/team to enable prioritization.
  • ***Serve as key ServiceNow application developer responsible for implementing using best practices as pertains to workflows, integration, configuration, customization, orchestration, access controls, etc.
  • Prepare and execute unit test cases and test scripts; support user acceptance testing.
  • Proactively stay on top of new capabilities in the platform and educate team members and customers.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent working experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience with the full SDLC responsibilities leveraging mature industry languages, with particular emphasis on JavaScript. 
  • Solid developer experience independent of the ServiceNow platform, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid skills using the ServiceNow platform: developing APIs via script includes, a competency of client and server APIs beyond just Glide record (i.e. Ajax, date/time, various utilities on developer portal, etc.), Service Portal work leveraging Angular, mobile, integration hub, etc.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in parallel with an awareness for evolving prioritization.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder to be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Application Developer (CAD) on a recent SN platform release and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a primary ServiceNow developer on a mature installation. 
  • Capable with configuration, scripting (client/server), integrations (REST, SOAP, etc.), data model/tables, forms, record-producers, security/access (Glide), workflows, applications, events, email, homepages/reports, external data, Machine Learning, Orchestration, NOW Platform and custom Applications, etc.
  • Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) on a recent SN platform release and/or a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a primary ServiceNow implementer on a mature installation.
  • Certified Application Specialist (CAS) on a recent SN platform release and/or a minimum of one (1) year experience implementing and enhancing Performance Analytics.
  • More specifically having experience with multiple of the following products: IT Service Management, Event Management and Project Portfolio Management.
  • ITIL Foundations Certification (v4 or higher).
  • Experience working on project teams that leverage Agile/Scrum.
  • A command of relational database concepts.

The likely salary range for this position is $104,000 - $156,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
