GDIT is seeking a Mid-Level Network Engineer (WAN) to support the Defense Logistics Agency’s information technology enclave support services program in Springfield, VA.

**This position requires 10% - 25% travel required within CONUS locations.**

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides engineering support for agency enterprise network solutions.

  • Supports network engineering design and the implementation of technology refreshes across the DLA enterprise, consisting of over two hundred sites. 

  • Planning, performing, and documenting laboratory assessments of hardware and software for both the classified and unclassified DISN Services to ensure proper connectivity and operations between the DLA WAN, the DLA's NOC, and DISA's NOCs.

  • Ensuring interoperability between DLA WAN, DLA IOEE and DISN network equipment and services.

  • Planning and tracking of implementation tasks.

  • Creating necessary supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance processes and procedures.

  • Monitoring and completion of assigned tasks, projects, work orders, incidents.

  • The selected candidate will also review industry and government data relative to technology changes affecting the DISN and commercial telecommunications sector and provide preliminary design and implementation data to support the strategic planning process.

  • 10% - 25% travel required within CONUS locations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Secret with SSBI or Top Secret clearance

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (i.e., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Route/Switch or Enterprise

  • Obtain CheckPoint Certified Security Expert (CCSE) certification within 120 days of hire

  • BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience of progressive technology and network engineering experience

  • Network engineering experience in unclassified and classified environments.

  • Knowledgeable in following areas:

    • Standard LAN/WAN protocols

    • BGP.

    • MPLS and LDP in a service provider environment.

    • Network design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

    • Device configuration (multi-vendor environment).

    • Wired, wireless, voice, and video technologies.

  • Ability to efficiently manage and clearly document multiple assigned projects and implementation plans

  • Must have time management, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must travel to CONUS locations when dictated by assigned tasks

  • Ability to report on-site as indicated above

Desired Qualifications:

  • CheckPoint Certified Security Expert (CCSE) certification

  • Network operations Tier 3 support experience
