Job Description

Apply your expertise to advance the mission and optimize our business strategy as a Network Engineer, Senior Advisor ​at GDIT. Here, you’ll support solving some of our clients’ biggest challenges and help us grow the business.

As a Network Engineer, Senior Advisor supporting ENS, you will be trusted to design, plan and build communications networks with an emphasis on Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA). Configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements.

This position may require a Hybrid schedule being onsite 2 days per month if candidate lives near a local GDIT office.


  • Collaborating with ENS peers to solve complex network assignments
  • Designing, deploying and supporting Zscaler Cloud based Infrastructure across various Data Centers and Disaster Recovery environments
  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, DNS and DHCP
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problems
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Develops network architecture and network design documentation
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud and GCP platform is a plus
  • Provide mentoring to staff within the ENS group


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, plus 10+ years of work experience in a networking role
  • In lieu of degree, 14 years of related experience is required
  • Routing and Switching experience
  • Firewall configuration and support – VPNs, ACLs, Tunnels
  • An understanding of IP addressing, DHCP and subnet management and deployment to meet site/program/system requirements
  • Experience with network automation
  • Understanding of network monitoring tools and operation
  • Understanding of Enterprise level network architecture
  • Preferred qualifications
    • Zscaler certified
    • Juniper OS
    • Palo Firewalls - add
    • Cloud (AWS/Azure) experience
    • CCNP or equivalent

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
