GDIT is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will cover project lead, systems engineering and technical analysis on multiple platform aircraft systems and projects from aircraft modifications, overhauls and commercial product installations.
Candidate will support system performance and analysis activities for the Cargo Utility platform Product Office, to include but not limited to technical development, design, parts integration, test, and evaluation of multiple Army weapon systems.
Experience in US ARMY program office is desired, to include; PM ASE, PM Cargo, PM Utility, PM Apache. Fundamental understanding of rotor aircraft dynamics and controls, flight mechanics, aerodynamics and propulsion are required. Experience with S70, Mi-17 and UH-60 variant aircraft highly desired. Aircraft Survivability Equipment installation/integration and aircraft modification experience highly desired.
Support and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between USG Technical project management teams. Review status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports. Assesses project technical issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers.
Participate as a member of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) ensuring application of systems and airworthiness principles through aircraft lifecycle phases.
Provide technical input as needed on weapons, sensors, airframe, avionics, propulsion, drive systems, maintenance practices and performance of the aircraft.
Provides technical advice on maintenance practices and modification of aircraft
Support aircraft induction and delivery processes
Assists in inspection and delivery of aircraft when necessary
Ensuring all areas (Tech, Log, Test, Systems Engineering) are included in the planning
Manage FMS projects as assigned by MASPO Technical Management Division
Overall management of testing (scheduling, funding, and documentation)
Review and provide input on test and evaluation documentation such as AWRs, test plans, and test reports
Monitor testing to include coordination of test events and documentation reviews.
Assist with Statements of Work, CDRLs, Budget estimate (Independent Government Estimates)
Establishing and updating Project Management Review briefing charts
This position will require some OCONUS travel. An active Secret clearance is required for this position.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS in an Engineering discipline and 8 yrs related engineering experience, or 12 yrs of relative modification experience in aircraft platforms. Experience can be substituted for education. FAA Airframe and Powerplant license or military helicopter pilot experience is a plus.
