Health Systems and Worker Safety (HSWS) Task Force – Clinical Data and Health Services Team/Health Systems Coordination Unit is seeking a Senior Data Analyst. The COVID-19 clinical team develops and updates information and guidance for clinicians regarding clinical aspects of COVID-19 disease. Additional activities include regular communications with clinicians to aid their understanding of COVID-19 disease, responding to clinical inquiries from the general public, and monitoring for adverse events associated with COVID-19 therapeutics

The Health Systems and Worker Safety (HSWS) Task Force has over 250 members. This task force is involved in providing guidance to clinicians, monitoring public health inquires and developing guidance for essential workers.

A successful candidate will have strong quantitative skills. Required skills include: a proficiency in R or Python, experience with Git, and excellent data communication skills. Experience with data engineering, informatics, working with data at scale, and experience working in AWS environments, are highly desirable. A clinical background, familiarity with text analytics, and experience with machine learning are beneficial but not necessary. The Data Science Unit Data Analyst will lead analytic projects and provide consultation and support to the Clinical Team as needed.

The work of the unit includes:

  • Data quality assessments
  • Experience with conducting inferential statistical analyses such as regression, correlation or time-to-event analyses.
  • Building big data provisioning pipelines
  • Conducting machine learning analyses, which may include natural language processing tasks
  • Providing consultation to other Clinical Team units on a variety of analytic, data engineering, and data visualization tasks


Required skill and experience:

  • 5+ years leading data analytics projects
  • Strong proficiency in R
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Strong background performing data analysis including statistical methods
  • Experience validating, cleaning, and analyzing clinical data from multiple sources
  • Experience serving as a consultant (internal or external) on analytic projects
  • The ability to provide technical assistance to internal and external team members and stakeholders
  • Previous experience analyzing large complex dataset independently

Desired skills:

  • Experience implanting machine learning techniques
  • Experience in AWS environments
  • Familiarity with text analytics
