Job Description

As an instructional designer with GDIT, you will be responsible for designing and developing training programs using proven adult learning methodologies and techniques. This includes designing and developing engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer. Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts training courses both on-site and on-line for professional development and non-technical skills to include lectures, web-based programs, and hands-on sessions.
  • Communicates professionally and clearly in both verbal and written interactions with internal staff from all functional areas supporting the program, the general public, and State government employees on a regular basis
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify audience’s training needs
  • Prepare lessons plans including developing and preparing training material such as manuals, handouts, instructor guides, and audio/visual materials.
  • Creates instructional goals and content that supports goals by applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
  • Creates visual aids (audio, video, simulations, e-learning modules, role plays, games, tests, etc)
  • Facilitates training classes and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities
  • Stays abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques
  • Evaluates and/or oversees contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs
  • Identifies best method of training delivery based upon training needs

  • Ability to travel to conduct offsite training events, if needed, in surrounding areas

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
  • Two or more years of experience with adult learning techniques and creating lesson plans and curriculum
  • Two or more years of experience managing a Learning Management System
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • MUST be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent plus 3 years of related experience
  • Training, Instructional Design certification, or Teaching Degree
  • Experience with content development software such as Captivate, Adobe Pro, and Camtasia
  • Visual design skills and experience creating storyboards
