Network Engineer
Section I: Position Description
· Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining infrastructure communications
hardware and software for USPSOIG network.
· Configuring router and switches for USPSOIG internal data center and satellite sites.
· Monitor network performance and usage utilizing Netvigil and InfiniStream sniffer.
· Identify diagnoses and resolve network problems.
· Assess and develop detailed procedure for upgrading existing USPSOIG network, as well as
redesigning network architecture in order to facilitate new business requirements.
· Ensure LAN/WAN environment is secure and appropriate resolution to recovery and redundancy
issues.
· Planning and ensuring of a reliable high performance environment across all components in the
USPSOIG network.
· Designing and implementing strategic and technical approach of projects.
· Work closely with field operation group and other IT staff.
· Evaluate and implement current and immerging technologies as appropriate to the mission and
priorities of the USPSOIG organization.
Section II: Position Requirements
Primary Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field such as Engineering,
Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields
· Ability to plan, organize, implement and direct activities and resources associated with the
design, development, and maintenance of enterprise network.
· Demonstrated experience leading a team and being responsible for the success of complex
projects with significant IT components
· Demonstrated ability to determine requirements for, and ensure design, development,
implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network.
Secondary Requirements:
· Ability to work independently, manages small project implementation across the USPSOIG
agency or organization, and coordinates project activities with IT staff.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with other IT staff and managers
· Ability to perform duties as assigned and help USPSOIG in obtaining and maintaining its
mission
Desired Requirements
· Advanced degree or advanced studies in converged telecommunications.
· CCNP or CCNA Certification
· Strong “can-do” attitude, willing to do whatever it takes to successfully accomplish projects
· Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex network
· Prior experience contracting with a government agency
· Excellent Time Management skills
· Proven ability to document network topology, and reflect on changes.
Section III: Experience
Candidate will possess at least 5 to 7 years of specialized experience in routing and switching.
Candidate will possess at least 2 to 4 years experience serving in the role of network administration,
dealing with all aspects of installing, configuring and maintaining of enterprise network.

This program only accepts US citizens and/or Green Card Holders. The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
