A Day in the Life:

The SOX/Internal Controls Department supports GDIT compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and conducts financial and operational risk-based internal audits. The Department has a holistic approach to assessing risks in order to support strategic decision-making and provide extensive technical control knowledge across the organization. 

As a SOX/Internal Controls Senior Analyst within GDIT, you will assess controls around the financial reporting, compliance, and operational processes, including business process and IT management controls. 

  • Implementing and conducting financial, IT, and operational audits
  • Developing a thorough understanding of business and operational processes, controls, and flow
  • Conducting a preliminary analysis and risk assessment of business areas
  • Documenting and testing business processes and IT controls that support key financial operations in compliance with SOX
  • Evaluating control deficiencies and monitoring remediation actions, timelines, and progress
  • Working with business process and control owners to develop remediation strategies to address deficiencies in internal controls over financial reporting
  • Communicating status of initiatives with senior leadership, corporate headquarters, and external auditors
  • Reviewing, developing, and implementing compliance policies, programs, and procedures 
  • Maintaining current knowledge of laws, regulations, procedures, and policies governing contract compliance and internal auditing
  • Assisting in the operational aspects of project management, including developing budgets, monitoring progress, performing quality control of deliverables, and delivering on schedule
  • Identifying opportunities to leverage data analytics and automation technologies to drive efficiencies 

In order to be considered, you will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and data analytical solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
  • Technical and analytical skills in areas including business processes, accounting, and finance
  • Knowledge of risks and internal controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analytics, data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), and Robotic Process Automation is a plus
  • One or more certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, and/or CFE (or demonstrated progress towards achieving one)

Location:

  • Hybrid openings in two locations in Falls Church, VA or Westwood, MA (remote & in-office)
