REMOTE - Senior Full Stack Developer for CDC

Our work depends on a Senior Full Stack Developer joining our team to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at its headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

At GDIT, we put our people first. As our Senior Full Stack Developer, you will provide technical leadership to a small team in the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of a web-enabled software application.  This project focuses on redesigned, rearchitected, and modernized of an existing application for cloud-based enablement using agile development practices. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled full stack developer and cloud architect with technical leadership experience. Experience with DevOps principles and tooling; containers; API development; and cloud development are highly preferred.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Provide technical leadership to a development team composed of software engineers and scientific application developers including leading agile sprints.
• Lead development including requirements elicitation, Minimal Viable Product (MVP) development, and maturation to a production system.
• Actively participate in requirements-gathering meetings and joint analysis and design sessions with customers.
• Initiate and lead design reviews.
• Manage and guide the team's development and testing capabilities via tool and process recommendations.
• Coach and mentor junior team members in industry best practices for software development.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering, or comparable field
• 8+ years of experience software development experience
• Experience programming with modern technologies such as MEAN, MERN, REACT, JavaScript, Python, HTML and CSS
• Experience with relational and non-relational database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL
• Experience with API design principles and API development
• Experience with containerization technologies
• Solid understanding of the principles of Agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban
• Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) practices and tools including use of code management systems (e.g., GIT) and CI services (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo)
• Experience with Linux
• Experience with development in cloud computing environments
• Ability to secure a Public Trust clearance

Preferred qualifications: 

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and proven ability to interact productively in a scientific team environment and with clients
• Experience leading software development teams
• Experience with front-end/client-side JavaScript technologies and React
• Strong experience with JavaScript automated testing frameworks and runners, such as Cucumber, Jasmine, Karma, and Protractor
• Experience with Ansible deployment automation platform
• Experience with Kubernetes container automation platform
