Job Description

Deliver solutions to complex problems as a Software Configuration Sr. Manager at GDIT. HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

  • The role is a blend of execution and strategy  
  • Responsible for configuration management of software technical data, and documents related to the design, modification, and sustainment of NYSoH system. 
  • Responsible for configuration management planning, process control, and execution using the designated software configuration management tool to ensure baselines are maintained and reproducible. 
  • Establish and enforce SCM Policy on assigned program(s) as set forth in company procedures or project Configuration Management Plans 
  • Maintain configuration management tools (including open source tools) to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software baselines 
  • Reviews released changes documenting activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies 
  • Reviews functional plans and technical data items to ensure all CDM requirements have been addressed and properly integrated within the requirements defined within the Program CDM Plan(s). 
  • Cross Functional collaboration with Managers to implement, administrate the Program Software CM & Data Management processes and administrate the associated tools and functions 
  • Responsible for the delivery of Configuration Management and deployment solutions as well as overseeing and ensuring the security of the platform as the program continues to scale to meet the growing business 
  • Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable 
  • Manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment environment and tool set. 
  • Facilitate Configuration Control Board activities and develop and generate metrics as related to SCM (e.g., issue tracking counts, lines of code). 
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating, and improving Configuration Management processes. 
  • Responsible for collecting program metrics and contributing to departmental metrics.  
  • Maintains current knowledge and proactively advocates software configuration management tool and process best practices. 
  • Proposes new tools and generates or coordinates enhancements for existing tools.  
  • Work to resolve issues as they arise by clearly identifying the problem, defining potential solutions, and completing the chosen path forward. 
  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, and ensuring successful execution of all SCM activities per the Configuration Data Management Plan and Company/NYSoH policies and procedures.  
  • Manage software repositories using designated SCM tools for software version and baseline control, using established procedures.  
  • Document all required software builds to ensure reproducible software configuration baselines and deliveries.  
  • Tracking compliance with policies and procedures and resolving or escalating any compliance issues 
  • Document and maintain guidelines and standards for dependency management, build and versioning 
  • Directs the resolution of SCM issues relating to program contractual requirements and company policies and procedures. Contributes to the publication and acceptance of SCM Practices and detailed methodologies for performing SCM functions. 
  • Participates in continuous process improvement projects across the program 
  • Facilities CM Audits 
  • Support generation of Software Version Description (SVD) and Configuration Guides to document released baselines 
  • Maintain familiarity with program schedule, identifying risks and aligning work to promote reuse and efficiency 
  • Execute release and change control functions using the SCM tools in order to ensure software product integrity and meet program schedules.  
  • Generate and maintain all necessary program software development, release and change records, including status accounting records.  
  • Maintains configuration management repository for the program.  
  • Facilitates program documentation deliveries as assigned.  
  • Ensures Disaster Recovery/alternate site is maintained working closely with program and technical services.  
  • Schedule, and manage Configuration Control Board activities and will be responsible for configuration identification, configuration audits, and controlling the CM process to ensure only valid and approved updates are incorporated into product baselines and other technical documentation.  
  • Stay current with industry standards and technology 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:     

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Fifteen (15) years of Information Technology experience  
  • Eight (8) years of experience supporting Software Configuration Management in highly complex, high-volume, large scale environment  
  • Five (5) years as a Software Developer preferably with a Java/J2EE application stack 
  • Five (5) years people management experience 
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of company software configuration management processes and standards.  
  • Experience deploying Software Configuration Management solutions 
  • Demonstrated understanding of all phases of the software lifecycle, large-scale web applications, and Internet theory and practice including design process, and development methodologies. 
  • Experience with software industry best practices such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) 
  • Experience facilitating a software Configuration Control Board (CCB) 
  • Experience working with government contracts 
  • IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) tool experience, particularly RTC, RQM, JRS, DNG, UrbanCode Deploy, Liquibase 
  • Experience with SCM tools such as Git, Jira, BitBucket, IBM Rational WorkFlow Management, IBM Rational Tool Concert (RTC), ClearCase and ClearQuest.  
  • Automation Tools experience such as: IBM UrbanCode
