At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Software Engineer supporting NIWC PAC 53522, a typical day will include:
Supporting Test and Evaluation (T&E) items contained for Link-16 Advance Tactical Data Link (ATDL) which includes planning Test & Evaluation for Link-16 test documentation and test support items for Qualification Tests of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS) terminal with Link-16 waveforms.
Identify and develop applicable tests, conduct tests, analyze test data, and document test results for inclusion in the formal block upgrade qualification Test Data Reports.
Preparing the Link-16 portions of the Qualification Test mission-based test plan and procedures.
Preparing automated scripts and initialization loads for the Link-16 tests.
Identifying potential issues related to the concurrent operation of the Link-16 through post-test analysis.
Supporting efforts relating to test execution and post-test analysis for MIDS JTRS for Link-16 Waveform implementation.
Providing support for the retest MIDS terminals to verify that software updates to those terminals corrected problems identified in block upgrade qualification tests.
Participating in the biweekly MIDS JTRS problem review boards (PRB).
Dry run block upgrade software scripts and loads on-site.
BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience.
Active Secret clearance.
Software T&E experience with tactical communication systems (Link-16).
Ability to work on-site NIWC Pacific in Point Loma San Diego.
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics with a minimum of 8 years technical experience at the systems level in DOD tactical communication systems projects. Current technical experience (within the last 5 years) in tactical communication systems to include TDL, ATDL, Software defined radios (SDRs), and/or related C4I systems at the systems level. Desired Systems Engineering experience in a DoD tactical systems acquisition environment to include subject matter expertise in acquisition programmatic and milestone decision requirements; and Systems Engineering experience with TDLs, ATDLs, and Tactical SDR Systems.
