VMware Engineer

Role:

The VMware Engineer will be a member of the Task Order 2 – Task 5: Infrastructure Hosting group and will work in conjunction with existing VMware, Windows, and Unix Engineers to administer the EPAs Hosting Infrastructure across multiple datacenters. This position will be an active contributor in projects including the rollout of new or re-purposed Hosts, research and design of Storage DRS, evaluation of patching schedule and use of Update Manager, parsing of vROPs performance reporting and recommending design\resolution paths, expanding the use of vRO and vRA, support of replication and SRM initiatives, and implementation of Log Insight with Splunk Integration.

Additional elements of this position will include:

  • Assisting with daily Splunk Log Monitoring
  • Capacity planning with forecasting feedback
  • Providing Break Fix Escalation in conjunction with other Senior Engineers
  • Interaction with Data Center and Network Operations for installation and upgrades
  • Management of DVS and related Service requests related to access and trunking
  • Participation in rotated after-hours duties
  • Documentation Preparation (RCAs, SOPs, Work Instructions, etc)

Required Qualifications

  • 7 Years Experience with VMware
  • Expert Knowledge of HA, DRS, and Storage DRS
  • Strong Experience with PowerCLI and Scripting
  • Strong Experience with Host Provisioning and Patching with Update Manager
  • Experience with ESXi Hardening (STIG Compliance)
  • Experience with Managing Multiple vCenters (VCSA experience required)
  • Familiarity with vSphere VM replication, SRM, Log Insight (or Splunk), and vROPs

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • VCP6-DCV \ VCAP6.5-DCV Preferred
  • Familiarity with Nutanix Hyper-Converged Systems
  • Experience with Cisco UCS Chassis
