GDIT is looking for a Software Engineer with a final DOD Secret Clearance to closely work independently with one of our government customers at Aberdeen Proving Ground in support of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) software development and integration. 

The position requires a person who is self-motivated, can quickly adapt to change, provides thoughtful insight into technical challenges, and is able to quickly derive root causes of technical issues.

This position will also require a small amount of system administration creating Windows user accounts and updating Windows Server OS (patches).  Familiarity with DISA STIGS in support of Information Assurance requirements would be a definite plus. The position requires:

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Designing and coding software components, units, and modules that meet product specifications and development schedules

  • Integration of Research and Development (R&D) software into cloud-ready frameworks to provide enterprise-wide solutions

  • Management of all C2 host systems installations and configurations in the APG test bed and all C2 software variants and patches

  • Supporting Information Assurance (IA) Compliance (install IA updates and patches)

  • Participation in the development of, and provide review and comment on, CBRN software/systems

  • Testing and debugging assigned components and units.

  • Participating in large system and subsystem planning

  • Reviewing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials

  • Troubleshooting problems and providing customer support for software operating systems and application issues

  • Determining machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements

  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

  • Participating in special projects as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

  • 3+ years of directly related experience in software development; experience with Java, C++, and basic Windows scripting. 

  • Experience with Ozone Widget Framework (OWF), GeoServer, Tomcat, Postgres, OpenSSL, Karaf and VM Ware is highly desired. 

  • Systems Administration experience with Windows and Linux

  • Secret Level security clearance.
