Job Description

As a Test Engineer / Technical Writer you will be part of a team of testers and technical writers to write test cases, write technical documentation, and conduct test events to validate the configuration, operation, and documentation of deployed capability to ensure deliverables adhere to company and customer quality standards. Additional tasks associated with the discipline of testing and technical writing also apply, as applicable to the scheduled work. The right candidate will also be considered for additional Team Lead responsibilities. 

This position is 100% remote.

HOW OUR TEST ENGINEER / TECHNICAL WRITER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Develop and implement efficient and effective testing strategies, test conditions and test scripts for projects.

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, and create test data for Agile Software Development team; including functional, integration, regression, data integrity and stress testing as well as assisting with user acceptance test events.

  • Identify gaps and deficiencies in business requirements, technical specifications, designs and testing documentation for completeness and testability.

  • Track defects and reporting key metrics for proactively identifying areas for improvement (such as performance, security (data integrity), and reliability of the system)

  • Decompose requirements into detailed test cases for functional and regression test execution.

  • Prepare reports to convey the results and test findings to senior technologists and other stakeholders, such as end-user testers.

  • Leverage experience with different software testing types and methods to support Agile Software Development

  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables or document, conducting research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology,

  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel

  • Apply public-speaking skills to conduct and lead User Acceptance Testing meetings and events with end-user communities.

  • Apply verbal and written communication skills with internal and external audiences.

  • Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials.

  • Actively manage functional area risks and issues to close technical gaps.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance at minimum

  • Required Experience: 3+ years of Test Engineering and Technical Writing experience.

  • Required Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

  • Required Technical Skills: Experience with Agile project management tools, such as Jira. Experience with test management tools, such as Zephyr. Experience implementing test tools to support automation and performance testing. Experience coordinating the setup of test environments for all planned test execution activities. Experience managing the change processes such as build promotions to Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) and Production environments. Technical proficiency with SQL including the ability to create queries to validate data integrity and other data constraints. Experience implementing testing and configuration management methodologies to support continuous integration

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Solid communications skills, both written and verbal. College-level writing ability, error-free attention to detail. Attention to detail is a must. Able to see how a single puzzle piece fits within the bigger picture. Able to create, discuss and explain technical documentation. Able to speak in small-group settings with internal and external audiences. Have the right soft skills to be part of the ICAM Team: Be a self-starter, have a positive approach to problems, provide innovative solutions to problems, anticipate the customer’s needs, be an effective communicator, be a leader of self and others, be an influencer of positive change and progress, commit to driving projects to completion on/ahead of time in a fast-moving environment

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
