GDIT is looking for its next passionate, highly skilled, self-motivated, experienced Data Architect to join our team as we continue to partner with New York State Department of Health to provide comprehensive Medicaid Fiscal Agent services in the operations and enhancement of the statewide Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS). Our GDIT team provides NYS DOH with innovative Medicaid solutions that deliver the functionality required to comply with the healthcare needs of New York citizens and provide the flexibility needed in today's technical environment.  You will join a group of high performing Architects to work on mission critical systems with continuously availability and extremely stringent response time service level agreements.

This position is based at GDIT’s Albany, New York, Riverview Center office.

Here's where you come in:

You’ll join our talented Architecture Team with oversight of the information architecture. As a member of our team you will help set the strategic direction and define the guiding principles that shape our software, data and technology adoption practices. You will be responsible for developing the conceptual, logical and physical data models for a variety of use cases across the portfolio. You will be responsible for maintaining and managing the data dictionary, schema and other meta-data for our high performance OLTP and ODS. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, identify the future needs and develop “to-be” data management & governance strategies. You will work with multiple stakeholders to influence application design, ETL design, XML/JSON schema design and champion the principles of data management. You will work with the DBA team to develop the optimize the data model to meet the performance and scale requirements of the enterprise.

Here’s what You’ll Bring to the Table:


  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field


  • BS or equivalent with eight (8) years related experience, or MS with six (6) years related experience
  • Eight (8) years experience developing, including mastery of multiple domains, increased scope and depth complexity, and internal leadership in cross-functional areas, deploying and supporting computing applications and in developing business models and processes in a large-scale enterprise
  • Five (5) years of Data Modelling and Data Architecture experience
  • Three (3) years of maintaining and managing meta-data across relational/XML/JSON data structures
  • Three (3) years of developing data models for large initiatives such as building an Operational Data Store or a Data Warehouse
  • Three (3) years of working with any data modeling tool
  • Three (3) years of working with end users, Business Analysts, SME, ETL Architects to develop integration strategies and data mapping
