DevOps Site Reliability Engineer

Our employees are driven, resourceful, and unwavering. Our work depends on a DevOps Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) resource supporting Technical Support Services (TSS) contract for the United States Postal Service (USPS) activities located in Eagan, MN or remote.

As a DevOps Site Reliability Engineer who is experienced with DevSecOps Automation and Architecture, you will be trusted to help drive the technical solutions and bridge the gap between the development and operations teams in support of API/SDK development project for the USPS.

You will be a key member on the Application Development Agile Scrum Team reporting to the Team Technical Lead/Architect. This is one our most important roles, and it will give you the opportunity to join a lean team to help define, execute, and grow GDIT’s application services capabilities across the enterprise.

In this role, a typical day will include (Primary Responsibilities)

• Be the liaison between API Development and Operations teams.
• Design and Optimizes API performance, API Gateway service mesh, and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Triages API production issues and promotes API scalability and resiliency
• Coach and advise team technical lead and API developers
• Review technical architecture provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution
• Plan and help execute prototyping and technical implementation efforts

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of DevSecOps continuous integration and delivery experience
  • 3+ years developing software products in Cloud environments

• Technical skills
  • Expertise in DevSecOps automation, and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD), Lean, and Agile Scrum/Kanban development techniques, best practices and tools
  • End-to-end Agile Lifecycle Management, Test, Build, Deployment, Security and Application Monitoring CI/CD pipeline automation solutions (i.e., Jira, GitLab/GitHub, Selenium, Cucumber, Bamboo, Ant/Maven, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Sonatype Nexus/CheckMarx, New Relic, AppDynamics etc.)
  • Experience with GitOps processes and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Cloud-native application architecture and design experience including containerized microservice, service mesh, API and event-driven architectures
  • Application containerization and orchestration solutions (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift or comparable)
  • Test-driven, and Behavior-driven Development (TDD / BDD)
  • Java/J2EE/JEE/.NET(C#) or comparable application architecture, design and development experience
  • Development framework and design pattern experience including Model View Controller, React, AngularJS, Node.js, JSON, Spring, Hibernate, Struts, Bootstrap, Responsive UI and/or comparable
  • SQL, RDBMS (i.e. Oracle, MS SQL Server) and NoSQL Database solutions (i.e. MarkLogic, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Neo4J, etc.)
• Security clearance level
  • Ability to attain Public Trust and/or DoD Secret

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Significant experience with cloud-native software architecture frameworks including Open-Source and Commercial distributions (OCI-compliant containerized microservices, REST API, Kubernetes deployment and orchestration) and Cloud-based services (AWS Lambda, EKS, Azure DevOps, AKS)
• Experience with DevSecOps CI/CD pipeline automation, integration and onboarding of software development teams to accelerate value delivery
• Demonstrated experience developing and scaling engineering solutions for both structured and unstructured data
• Strong communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel and stakeholders

The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.  We can only accept Green Card Holders or US Citizens for this program.

The likely salary range for this position is $118,810 - $198,411, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
