The Senior Azure Systems Administrator interfaces regularly with other Systems Administrators, Network Administrators and Technical Services leadership, and is responsible for the installation, monitoring and support of client facing systems in Azure, cloud-based technologies. He/she will use the skills required of a System Administrator and have the working knowledge of the skills required to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission Azure related services. This role is for someone that loves to be hands on in Microsoft and infrastructure technologies, enjoys working in cloud environments and wants to be part of an innovative and exciting team.
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or 7 or more years of equivalent experience
5 years or more of experience in supporting applications and functions in the Azure Cloud
Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshoot web applications. This includes deployment of web service applications using Azure and utilizing application and server logs to identify and resolve issues.
Experience upgrading and maintain operating systems and application software on Microsoft Windows (2008 R2, 2012 R2) platforms.
Experience with daily monitoring of the network, servers, cloud and applications to ensure full availability and optimum performance. Utilize software tools and logs to monitor network, connectivity, applications and system health.
Experience tracking and managing system certificates/security requirements, privileged accounts, database passwords, and federated access across active directories as well as documented system artifacts required for security certification
Experience creating and updating documentation, including standard operating procedures, administrative instructions, After Action Reports for system outages, task status updates, and customer reports.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot Azure server and SQL database related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resources
Availability to work night and weekend hours on occasion as required
Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
Experience with building Azure infrastructures
Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Perl, and Python).
Experience with SysOPs/DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD.
Evaluating and automating the scaling and capacity requirements within Azure environment
Ability to perform cloud performance analysis and optimize distributed cloud systems.
Certification(s) related to the cloud environment preferred, such as MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or CCNA Cloud
Strong knowledge of Backup, Restore, Recovery and high availability strategies for Microsoft Azure environments.
Current/Active VA security clearance
The likely salary range for this position is $69,600 - $104,400, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
