General Dynamics Information Technology is searching for a Web Designer to provide operations support services to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. You will be working with the CDC’s NCHHSTP – National Center for HIV Aids, Hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention.
Provide support in upgrading, maintaining content for websites
Participates in meetings, and contributes to technical design, reports and other feedback mechanisms as appropriate.
Design clean, consistent user interfaces based on best practices, user research data, and knowledge gained from product analysis; Adhere to established CDC.gov design guidelines
Perform cross-browser testing of Web sites and components and ensure all Web pages and Web files are 508 compliant.
Adhere to internal approval processes and clearance requirements prior to publishing.
Recommend and improve efficiency of Web solutions architecture, end-user experiences, search engine optimization, use of graphics, mobile optimization, and best practices.
Collect, aggregate, analyze and report website metrics (using Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, etc.)
Ensure all websites and components are compliant with all applicable CDC IT security policies, standards and regulations
Perform tasks, activities and services necessary to provide comprehensive technical and operational Web support for all
Online properties and the content contained therein (includes both internally and externally facing Web sites, Web content management systems and supporting electronic interfaces to social media platforms, multi-media technologies, and data retrieval Web services)
Intranet and internet online properties and the content contained therein.
Scope includes all tasks, activities and services necessary to design, construct, test, deploy, remediate, migrate, analyze, support, operate, update and maintain Web content management systems, Web analytical services, graphical user interfaces, Web sites, Web portals, Web portals, mobile Web sites, digital channels, widgets, components and electronic interfaces for supporting social media platforms, multi-media technologies, and data retrieval Web services
Education / Experience / Abilities:
BA / BS Degree or equivalent and 2+ years of applicable website design and development experience is required.
Experience designing responsive websites or web applications
Understand and apply Section 508 accessibility requirements
CDC experience and general understanding of the CDC public health mission
Experience using the CDC.gov web template
Excellent written communications skills required
Experience working in a government contracting environment
Meet deadlines with both timeliness and quality; Have strong organization and time management skills; Balance and prioritize work across multiple projects
Work independently and as part of a team
