Join General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Navy’s Manpower Personnel Training Education Enterprise (MPTE) Technical Services Support (TSS) contract in Great Lakes, IL.

In this role you will provide our Navy client with information technology support. As a member of the Naval Service Training Center (NSTC) IT Support team, you provide management, oversight, and technical support of services delivery, including account, hardware and software support for NMCI and Legacy computers and network connected devices, mobile services, unified capabilities, peripherals, and other legacy IT system equipment.

  • Provide IT service management responsibilities, to include service request management, asset management, account management, Fileshare management, and transition management (e.g., Seat and/or Technical Refresh & OS Refresh). 

  • Address, escalate and/or track local service and technical issues through remediation in accordance with established best practices. 

  • Perform stand-alone, networked PC, and peripheral equipment configuration, installation, troubleshooting and upgrading/repair.

  • Perform Windows 10 Operating System (OS) and third party software installation/upgrades, configuration, backups and troubleshooting. Creates Windows 10 images used for rapid deployment/redeployment of computer systems.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve hardware/network issues; connect, integrate and remove computer workstations to and from networks/domains; and provide system testing.

  • Review Windows operating system, anti-virus, firewall and other relevant logs to identify root causes of system malfunctions and irregular operations.

  • Maintain inventory of desktop and laptop computers, printers and other IT peripherals.

  • Apply technical and project management expertise in collaboration with other team members to develop requirements, identify tasking, manage project execution, recognize, report and remediate issues representing schedule risk. 

  • Learn the physical infrastructure of networking/IT in order to understand limitations and help in identifying solutions to problems/issues/requests.

  • Provide advice and guidance to customers on recommended solutions to user’s requests, and training on hardware/software deployment and utilization.

  • Provide suggestions to improve project execution and complete project deliverables on behalf of the NSTC CIO staff.

  • Organize, direct, coordinate, and communicate the planning and production of all activities associated with assigned projects, including configuration management, change management, and logistics/resource coordination ensuring accuracy and completion of all necessary documentation/inventory controls.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma; college courseware preferred.

  • 3+ years of IT experience

  • Functional expertise with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

  • Able to lift 25lbs, climb stairs, stoop under equipment or desks, walk across campus.

  • Navy Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) baseline certification to include CompTIA Security+

  • Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; or 1 to 2 years of college

  • Project Management Institute (PMI), Agile Scrum, ITIL or other industry recognized certifications.

  • Navy Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) baseline certification to include OS Certification.

  • IT project management experience supporting Navy or DoD network systems.
