As a Recovery Specialist (SCA General Clerk III) you will support the processing of complex Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) correspondence received from stakeholders related to Non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) claims and support the recovery of mistaken or conditional Medicare payments. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Manage individual workload of cases with minimum supervision; making decisions and taking actions based on Federal Law and CMS instructions. 
  • Research available data, analyze and interpret Medicare secondary payer regulations to determine liability. 
  • Coordinate efforts with beneficiaries, attorneys, employers and other insurance companies to ensure compliance with time and quality regulations. 
  • Communicate with third parties as necessary to determine the accuracy of transactions. 
  • Update the Common Working File (CWF) via the Electronic Correspondence Referral System (ECRS) when changes in beneficiary MSP status are identified to facilitate pre-payment savings. 
  • Identify mistaken Medicare primary payments, initiate recovery and issue initial conditional payment letters. 
  • Administer financial transactions in the Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System (HIGLAS) 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • ​Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required  
  • Proficient in Math and Microsoft office software 
  • Minimum 3 years of Medicare experience preferred  
  • Knowledge of BCRS and HIGLAS preferred  
  • Ability to make high-quality decisions and follow standard operating procedures 
  • Attention to detail

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $16.08 - $26.85, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
