General Dynamics IT (GDIT) is looking for its next passionate, highly skilled, self-motivated Software Development Manager to join a growing team that’s tasked with modernizing our Medicaid platforms by leveraging cutting edge technologies to build new applications.

This high performance organization will work collaboratively to design and develop brand new Medicaid applications to replace or augment legacy applications. Our current solutions leverage Spring Boot-based Microservices, Angular 10, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS. Technologists looking to expand their skills and build new, innovative products would be a perfect addition to this growing team.

This position is based at GDIT’s office at Riverview Center in Menands, NY.

Your Role

You’ll join our talented team to begin helping direct resources and provide technical leadership on critical modernization initiatives that are occurring on the NYS Medicaid program. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make application architecture decisions, drive the direction of new business functionality, assist in the direction of highly interactive user experiences, and build (or re-build) myriad applications from the ground up. Applications built by this team are highly interactive and user-focused, making the legacy experiences simpler and more accessible than ever.

You will be key in ensuring code quality, meeting delivery timelines and providing broad direction and growth opportunities for a team of energetic, talented developers. Furthermore, you will work with senior staff within the department to make decisions around selecting new technologies for future development, as well as assisting in the growth and development of key proprietary technologies developed to support core Medicaid business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance, growth opportunities and technical leadership to junior level resources
  • Learn Medicaid business and operations to deliver the appropriate solutions
  • Communicate application design using UML
  • Provide technical guidance on the development of front end applications using Angular 2+
  • Provide technical guidance on the development of back end applications using Spring/REST
  • Help grow our technology stack to accommodate the ever-changing needs of the Medicaid space

Education:

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline – OR – relevant experience in Information Technology

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years applications development and delivery experience
  • 5+ years of experience in managing software development organizations
  • Strong basis in Object Oriented Analysis and Design, RESTful Service design
  • Java 8+, Maven, Spring, Junit, Mock Framework (Mockito preferred)
  • SQL and RDBMS experience, capability to write complex queries
  • TypeScript 3, JavaScript, Angular 2+, Karma, and Node/npm

  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and task priorities
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
