At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Software Developer (Systems Software) supporting the customer, you will be trusted to execute multi-faced programs that support dynamic mission sets. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Leveraging cloud technology, development and operations principles to instantiate infrastructure assets, design, deploy and maintaining the Sponsor’s enterprise-level geospatial information systems (GIS) platform and supporting services to meet customer requirements
  • Migrating and integrating COTS/GOTS applications and services to multiple intranets and networks to include cloud environments
  • Streamlining, stabilizing and scaling existing applications to increase efficiency and ensuring seamless adoption by a larger user pool
  • Adhering to the program’s software development process to include creation of all related artifacts and documentation


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years related experience or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with setting up and/or maintaining Cloud based DevOps functionality
  • Demonstrated experience with Java, JavaScript, Python and SQL programming languages
  • Demonstrated experience with developing applications using relational database systems
  • Experience with performance tuning applications and services
  • Experience documenting system design and architecture
  • Demonstrated experience (at least one year) with sponsor’s deployment of AWS, experience deploying applications within the sponsor’s classified environment
  • Demonstrated strong coordination and collaboration skills with the ability to work successfully across organizational boundaries
  • Experience working in an Agile software development cycle
  • Demonstrated experience with monitoring, troubleshooting and de-bugging systems issues and outages
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining REST APIs
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph


  • Experience with ESRI suite and/or other geospatial tools
  • Possession of AWS certification
  • Familiarity with Geospatial data sources, formats and standards
  • Significant expertise with SQL and noSQL databases
