GDIT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Infrastructure Engineering team, which manages and operates state-of-the art service provider network and telecommunications infrastructures for the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role you will focus on supporting the enterprise-level facilities security and industrial controls systems networks.
We expect this position to primarily remain remote but you must be able to commute to the client site in Bethesda, MD for meetings or other required duties as needed.
Responsibilities and General Duties:
Reviewing, proposing and executing solutions to meet contract objectives, including monitoring performance and fine-tuning configurations
Designing and testing innovative technologies and architectures and developing hardware and configuration standards
Reviewing impact of overall solutions and working with program teams to formulate design plans
Transitioning technical requirements into a working solution.
Participating in all project phases to verify that the design is installed, configured, and documented following best practices
Reviewing, updating, and maintaining technical diagrams and documentation
Assisting the project management team to recognize and mitigate any risks and issues to on-going projects
Working with the security team to review and propose solutions for security findings
Support training and mentoring all levels of staff
Providing Tier 3 troubleshooting support
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline and 10 years related experience
Cisco CCIE: having passed both the written and practical exams in at least one of the following areas of specialization: Routing & Switching, Service Provider, Data Center or Wireless OR minimum of 10 years network services experience
Ability to obtain NIH Public Trust
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
ITIL Foundation certification
Project management experience
