The Cultural Sociologist/Anthropologist leverages sociological and analytical expertise to explore standard and non-standard historical sources to examine how events, actors and institutions acquire significance through cultural codes, narrative genres and metanarratives.
Other Duties Include:
Supports development of integrated approaches to explain the structures and changes in informative phenomena on the cultural plane.
Performs cultural code analysis of communicator motives, mutual relations, and relevant institutions.
Performs narrative strategy analysis, including historical analysis of how different narratives about specific events or institutions vary over time, and how different narratives vie for dominance.
Performs metanarrative analysis, determining extensive narratives constituting reference frames for events, individuals and institutions and supporting the development of understanding of symbolic boundaries and basic reference frameworks.
Provides advice and products supporting development or refinement of communication execution and assessment strategies.
Requires 5+ years of experience in sociology or related fields.
Requires a Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology, Anthropology, or related fields.
Secret clearance required; accepted candidates will be submitted for upgrade.
