Sr. Network Engineer - TS/SCI required - SIGN-ON BONUS

GDIT is seeking Network Engineer candidates to support the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Under the I2TS 3 task order, INSCOM ensures reliable, uninterrupted availability of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) including: networks, hardware, software, engineering, and specialized tools at the point of customer need to support INSCOM's mission. INSCOM and its MSCs provide the enabling layer to connect the Army and its tactical formations to defense and national intelligence agencies via tactical networks. The ability to provide mission critical intelligence is dependent on the successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.

An I2TS 3 Network Engineer will:

  • Act as lead in defining and executing network engineering activities within a project. Provide comprehensive definition of all aspects of network development from analysis of mission needs to verification of network performance

  • Analyze customer requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level Network architectures to develop network requirements and specifications

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation.

  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies

  • Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking terminology.

  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to government systems.

  • Develop and maintain network architecture and network design documentation

  • Develop and design an implementation plan that meets the customer’s requirements.

  • Interact with the Government regarding networks engineering technical considerations and for associated problems.

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Networks Engineering area of responsibility

  • Communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives effectively

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently

  • Ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Experience with the BGP protocol, to include:

    • Extensive knowledge between iBGP and eBGP and their differences.

    • Knowledge of how to scale the iBGP protocol, including both route-reflectors and confederations.

    • Knowledge of the most commonly used BGP attributes, such as local-preference, MED, and weight.

    • Knowledge on how to improve BGP convergence, either timers or BFD.

    • How to scale multiple BGP neighbors and policies, such as peer-sessions and peer-policy.

    • Experience with MP-BGP, including MPLS VPNs to exchange VPN labels in a CSC environment.

    • Knowledge of how to implement BGP communities.

    • Knowledge of miscellaneous BGP features such as:

      • BGP backdoor.

      • BGP allow-as in/remove-private-as

      • BGP filtering using transit-AS, as-path filters, regular expressions.

  • Experience with interior gateway protocols, such as OSPF:

  • How to design an efficient and scalable OSPF topology.

  • Knowledge of the different type of LSAs that OSPF uses.

  • Knowledge of how intra-area and inter-area routing works.

  • How to setup stub, total-stub, and NSSA areas.

  • Knowledge of how OSPF filtering works, whether area the ABR or ASBR.

  • A Cisco professional level certification is required. (e.g CCNP, CCDP, CCNP Data Center)

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Working knowledge of firewall operating systems including CISCO ASDM,  Firepower Management Center (MFC), Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), and Palo Alto

  • Experience with network access control, such as Cisco ISE:

    • How to configure policies in ISE (802.1X or MAB policies).

    • How to troubleshoot the ISE authentication process in an EAP-TLS environment.

    • Knowledge on configuring ISE profile results for specific authorizations.

    • ISE integration with AD to perform both user and machine authentication.

    • How to manage network devices in ISE.

  • Experience designing and implementing Quality of Service ( QOS )

  • Familiarity with network tools including NetBrain and/or Solarwinds.

  • Experience working with various Taclane Encryption platforms

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience, or Associate's Degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 4 years of experience

Certification(s):

  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract

  • Required Security Environment Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent

  • Computing Environment certification: minimum of CCNA to start and CCNP within 180 days of your start date. Of course, if you have CCNP is preferred to have individual that has this on day one.

Security Clearance:

  • TS/SCI required

  • Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
