As an Active Network Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Collaborating with teammates to create, implement, and troubleshoot new engineering designs
  • Translating requirements from internal stakeholders into engineering designs based on a standardized network architecture
  • Presenting proposed changes to the standardized architecture to internal review boards
  • Creating drawings and other configuration management documentation to track network changes
  • Troubleshooting switch, router, and firewall connectivity issues between various customer sites
  • Completing patching of all network devices (router, switch, firewall, etc.) in accordance with Sponsors policies
  • Performing quarterly reviews of all network device access control lists and rulesets

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance experience, and 5 years of hands-on related experience.
  • Experience in an enterprise-scale network environment.
  • Proficient understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP, and subnetting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Cisco switches and Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Demonstrated experience with Tier II/III level troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring various routing protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience building IPSec and/or MACSec tunnels.
  • Strong shell scripting experience.
  • Secret Clearance required.

Certification Requirements:

DoD 8570 IAT II - one of the following IA certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP,GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP

Compute Environment Certification In addition to the baseline IA certification requirement for their level listed above the DoD 8570.1 mandate states IATs with privileged access must obtain appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certifications for the operating system(s) and/or security related tools/devices they support as required by their employing organization. (e. g. Microsoft certifications for Microsoft systems support technicians, Cisco certifications for Cisco technicians, Linux Certifications for Linux technicians or the specific system the IAT is spending most of their time supporting).
