We are seeking a Data Center Engineer/Administrator to join our team to support National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Information Technology (CIT) client, which supports world-class biomedical research at NIH by delivering Information Technology services and products that ensure NIH scientists and administrative staff receive the IT support they need.

You will have the opportunity to help provide the NIH and Health and the Human Services community with a secure and reliable IT infrastructure.  You will be at the center of network data analysis for all of NIH.

IN THIS ROLE, A TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:

  • Providing technical guidance to Level 1 and 2 network engineers and administrators with the day- to-day Network Service operations and project support.
  • Verifying Configuration Management of current IOS.
  • Providing technical verification of designs and configurations.
  • Communicating requirements, scheduling, risk, impact with customers.
  • Assisting PMO team with requirements gathering.
  • Providing technical review on change requests.
  • Responding to customer tickets and working on projects as assigned; updating tickets and performing tasks within the SLA’s
  • Leading network migrations - Implementation Plan, Fallback Plan
    Risk Mitigation
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network issues within the SLA timeframes
  • Providing coverage for on-call, after-hours support.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA or equivalent and five years IT and Networking experience
  • Five years of Cisco IOS Network operating system experience
  • Five years of Cisco Network and Datacenter experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 concepts (Campus Switching)
  • Expert understanding of the Spanning Tree protocol
  • Good understanding of Routing Protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP
  • Must have experience with Cisco catalyst switches, Cisco 6500 Series Switches, Nexus 7XXX, and 5XXX series, and ASR 9k
  • Excellent customer-facing and presentation skills
  • CCNP required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CCIE certification
  • Cisco Datacenter certifications
