The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil.  FERC also reviews proposals to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines as well as licensing hydropower projects.  GDIT provides enterprise architecture (EA), IT planning, and IT policy support services to the office of the FERC CIO.  The GDIT team supporting FERC has a position opening for an Information Specialist/Knowledge Engineer to develop and maintain a SharePoint repository of CIO governance documents and provide support for various IT planning and enterprise architecture tasks.  The well qualified candidate will be an analytical, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong SQL and Excel skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a customer service orientation.    

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, locate, and inventory all CIO governance documents including policy documents and SOPs
  • Lead effort to refine/overhaul existing SharePoint-based CIO governance document repository
  • Track the currency of CIO governance documents and coordinate updates by CIO staff
  • Develop and extend models and capabilities of the Troux EA repository to better support agency IT planning and decision making
  • Update the Planview CTM-based EA repository and models to reflect approved IT change requests
  • Collect and analyze business and technical data for EA analyses and inclusion in the EA repository
  • Generate standard quarterly reports and ad hoc reports from the EA repository
  • Develop and update various EA artifacts such as application and infrastructure architecture graphics
  • Support the IT planning activities of the Enterprise Architecture Working Group (EAWG)
  • Map business processes and derive business requirements in support of proposed IT initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of contract deliverables including written documents

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • BA or BS, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related Science degree
  • Strong technical background
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong SQL and Excel skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with strong customer service orientation

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience developing and maintaining EA repositories using the Planview CTM (formerly Troux) suite of products or comparable enterprise architecture tools (e.g., Mega or IBM Systems Architect)
  • Experience using Power BI, Visio, and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • SharePoint expertise
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture concepts
  • Process modeling and business analysis experience
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining an SOP repository
