GDIT is seeking a talented mid-level Software Engineer with experience in Python to join a fast-paced, diverse team working very closely with our EPA stakeholders. You will join a team that allows you to be creative and innovative in developing a large data curation and analytics application, supporting EPA research scientists.
2 years of experience developing application code in a web framework
Experience working in the Agile software development method
Excellent communication skills
Experience working directly with customers, end-users, or subject matter experts
Experience working in a team across multiple/virtual locations is preferred
Familiarity with the following technologies and processes is preferred:
Django web application framework
Django REST Framework
d3 data visualization library
Web services and APIs
Team members self-assign tasks and work mostly independently. Successful candidates will apply themselves to different facets of the project (user interface, API, devops, testing, etc.). The software review process requires excellent communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to evaluating requirements. Developers participate in daily “standup” phone meetings and weekly video conference calls. Local (North Carolina) GDIT staff attend the weekly conference calls at the client’s facility. Team members are responsible for maintaining containerized development environments on GDIT or client-provided hardware.
