Join GDIT and be part of the team of men and woman that solve the world’s most complex technical challenges.  The team is searching for a Software Engineer in support of a Navy Customer in San Diego, CA.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Designs, develops and analyzes complicated and difficult software programs for computer based systems
  • Develops moderate complex documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Under limited supervision, prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Performs in-depth modeling, simulation and analysis. Designs and develops basic compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems with independent judgement.
  • Using independent judgement, develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • Provides detailed inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.
  • Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Specifically on this program, the SW Engineer will:

  • Provide engineering support necessary to monitor, review and critique the software specifications, designs, and implementations being developed.
  • Support a high level of code quality by reviewing unit tests, participating in code reviews, reducing cyclomatic complexity, removing code duplication, and debugging software modules.
  • Establish standards and demonstrate an expert understanding of user interface design patterns, object oriented design, refactoring, design patterns, test automation, continuous integration/deployment, concurrency, modeling, versioning, memory management, security, services, networking, inter-process/thread communication, and message queues.
  • Participate in a highly collaborative team environment, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle using Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of code defects and deployment of timely fixes.
  • Evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall systems.
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
  • Support industry vendors in the design, development, documentation, testing and debugging of applications software and systems.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in applied science, computing, engineering, mathematics, physics, management information systems, or other related engineering or computer science discipline
  • Secret level security clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret level security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), if needed
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience performing software engineering management, reduction, and analysis of data, designing tests, and laboratory analyses, including scientific analyses and interpretation of research results
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with software engineering that includes software planning, requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, debugging, and installing large scale software systems. This experience must also include how to estimate, measure and report quality and progress of the software development effort
