General Dynamics IT is seeking a Software Developer t to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAAs) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). This position is part of an agile software development team supporting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) effort through NCEI to consolidate its scientific dataset and product search, discovery, and access systems into one enterprise system known as OneStop. As a Software Developer, you will work with a small team of software developers responsible for all phases of development from requirements gathering and analysis to implementation using Agile methodologies. Development work is done primarily using Python and/or Java (Python preferred).Working in a team requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be comfortable working side-by-side as well as across geographical locations with their colleagues in highly collaborative environment. Additionally, self-learning is expected in order to find innovative solutions to complex problems.Required Skills
  • Experience with Python and Bash.
  • Experience working on Unix platforms.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • 4 years of hands on experience
  • Bachelor Degree or 4 years experience
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working on an agile scrum team.
  • Experience with Java and Groovy a plus.
  • Working with XML (specifically lxml library for Python).
  • Experience working with metadata, specifically metadata standards (ISO 19115-1/2).
  • Relational database experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies a plus.
  • Object-oriented programming skills is a plus.
