Job Description

Our work depends on Systems Engineer joining our team to support the planning and engineering of MRDC’s IT systems infrastructure including the implementation and design of hardware and software. 
 
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT 

  • Provide configuration and maintenance of network and equipment for MRDC and subordinate Commands.  

  • Assist in maintaining IT infrastructure to include servers, network devices, workstations, and peripherals.  

  • Review and implement Operating System (OS) and application patches to comply with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) policies.  

  • Conduct audits for the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) program and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.  

  • Monitor and scan servers and workstations to comply with security requirements.  

  • Prepare documentation such as POA&M reports, IAVA reports and MS Visio diagrams.  

  • Configure and maintain Active Directory (AD) services.  

  • Configure and maintain System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Windows Server Update services (WSUS), Symantec endpoint server and log servers.  

  • Configure and maintain group policy objects, user, and group permissions.  

  • Configure and maintain VMware servers and virtual machines.  

  • Monitor servers and SANs for hardware failures.  

  • Resolve user problems and maintain a record of problems and resolutions.  

  • Maintain Windows patches and virus updates on workstations.  

  • Continually review the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) workstation configuration for RMF compliance.  

  • Trouble shoot all Gold Disk changes to group policy to ensure effectiveness and impact.  

  • Test software for remote support to keep remote workstations updated to DHA standards.  

  • Provide support to all remote users including Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).  

  • Maintain equipment inventory for all workstations and peripherals on the LAN.  

  • Provide application training for users.  

 
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: 
Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or related STEM field 
Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience  
Required Technical Skills: VMWare Suite, Windows Server, WSUS, SCCM, Windows, Cisco, IP, Networking, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, SAN, Active Directory 
Security Clearance Level: DoD Secret Clearance 

Certifications: Active IAT II certifications (Security+ CE, or equivalent) 
Required Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and problem solving skills  
Preferred Skills: Systems Engineering experience in a DoD environment, RMF, ATO 
Location: Fort Detrick, MD with some remote work possible
