We are currently seeking a Software Developer to work at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters in Fort Meade, MD!

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the development of application code related to various stand-alone and embedded databases, to include query tuning and optimization of database interactions. 
  • Will be required to understand the non-database code that their database development efforts will support, meaning at minimum. 
  • Participate in and help to organize development activities between multiple developers to ensure consistent and reliable application delivery. 
  • Work closely with database administrators to ensure proper and efficient functioning of databases.
  • Responsible for review of functional and technical requirements, documenting code and technical implementations.
  • Perform defect analysis and resolution.
  • Work as a team member with other technical staff and vendors to ensure reliable interoperability between systems.
  • Able to perform direct and advisory roles in oversight, planning and implementation of projects and initiatives. 
  • Responsible for the design, planning, & integration of various database development efforts for a variety of applications. 
  • Advise management and team members of risks associated with technologies and implementation approaches and identify methods of risk mitigation.
  • Conduct problem resolution and identify process improvements. 
  • Coordinate with Tier III team members as well as theater Tier II team members when necessary. 

Required Skills:

  • Possess an active Secret clearance w/Tier 5 investigation (formerly known as an SSBI investigation) OR an Interim/Final Top Secret clearance
  • Must currently have or obtain an IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP), within 30 days of hire.
  • BS or equivalent + 2 yrs related experience, or MS + 0 yrs experience
  • At least 5 years of experience with various database development languages, with PL/SQL being the most important.
  • Experience working with development teams using standard development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with source control systems, preferably SVN and MS Visual Source Safe
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and problem solving skills are essential
  • Ability to meet with customer, obtain requirements, analyze options, and provide solutions for multiple concurrent projects.
  • As part of global engineering team, test plan & report documentation management skills are must as are MS Office/Visio/Project/PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors and department staff.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts and methodologies

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • IAT Level II certification
  • SQL scripting
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Web design (ASP and ASPX)
  • Experience using Visual Studio
  • Perl scripting
  • C#
  • Other programming languages (to include Java and .NET) are beneficial and desired
  • Familiarity with Web Services and SOA concepts
  • Knowledge of database tuning and analysis methodologies
  • Commercial Experience desirable
