GDIT is excited to support The Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton’s (NAMRU-D) mission is to maximize warfighter performance and survivability through world-class aerospace medical and environmental health research by delivering solutions to the field, the fleet, and for the future. (NAMRU-D) is a major DoD medical research laboratory whose mission is to enhance warfighter health, safety, performance, and readiness. The research conducted at NAMRU-D addresses identified Fleet needs, and results in products and solutions ranging from basic knowledge, to fielded technologies.
We will provide research support for research studies and analyses to understand the human cognitive and physiological factors associated with military operations in the aviation, space, and related environments especially as they relate to motion sickness (e.g., sea-sickness, air-sickness, simulator-sickness and space-sickness), aeromedical standards, altitude effects, fatigue assessment, aviation safety, acceleration effects, neurocognitive/neurophysiological effects, and related areas.
The Research Assistant II will be responsible for the following tasks:
Schedule and assist with subject screening and data collection.
Assist the PI in paperwork for human subjects and/or animal use research approval and ensure compliance with rules and regulations (subject to final Government review and approval).
Coordinate the implementation of sponsored and PI initiated research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of files/study records and all activities associated with
Internal and external audits in coordination with the PI.
Clean and maintain instrumentation, equipment, and laboratories.
Modify and plan research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments.
Assist in research design and development of a study budget.
Assist with preparation for presentations and written published articles.
Monitor supply inventory and replenish stocks through established Command supply procedures.
Assist and educate entry-level contractor research assistant personnel in the understanding and performance of their duties.
One year of experience providing research support for research studies and analyses
Experience assisting PI’s with internal and external audits, paperwork and implementation of research studies
Experience preparing for presentations and written published articles
Experience maintaining laboratory, instruments, equipment and supply inventory
Experience assisting with research design and study budgets
