HOW the Systems Administrator Senior WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems. Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts. Maintains system documentation Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May program in an administrative language. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results. Provides advice and training to end-users. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required. 


Requires comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support. Comprehensive knowledge of related hardware and software. 


  • Responsible for performing system management and system administration functions supporting a distributed computing environment consisting of military simulations systems to include JLCCTC-MRF/ WARSIM, JLCCTC-ERF/ JCATS, and Low Overhead Drivers (LOD), and provides for the integration of these systems with Mission Command Systems (MCS) and administrative systems in order to support tailored unit digital MCS training requirements for military units ranging from battalion to echelons above corps. 

  • Functions include the installation, maintenance, and control of MCS applications for logistics, intelligence, and fire support as well as the underlying computer operating systems. Likewise, designs, configures, documents, tests, and modifies computer applications and for use in an integrated MCS training environment. 

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and system administrator for designated MCS clients to include the systems listed in section 3 below as well other existing and emerging MCS platforms supporting the fires, logistics, and intelligence army Warfighter Functional Areas. 

  • Maintains coordination with proponents of new systems for information on availability of use, participation in Beta testing, and provision of recommendations prior to fielding. 

  •  Provide mentorship, guidance, training, and work leadership to system technologists with less experience and understanding of specific functions, MCS, and operating systems.  Consult with system integrators, system administrators, and computer specialists from other staff sections and organizations to design optimized system configurations and architectures in support of training. 




  • Education/Experience: 5+ Years, “and/or” related BA/BS in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. 

  • DoD Certification and Training Requirements:  

  • Baseline Certification IAW DoD 8570.01-m required for hire. 

  • Computing Environment Certification IAW DoD 8570.01-m required. 

  • Technical Category and Level: IAT-I 

  • Security Clearance: Current SECRET required 

  • Location: Fort Bragg MTC. Normal work schedule is 0730-1630, may require night or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements. 

  • Travel: May require occasional travel (less than 10%)
