GDIT has partnered with NASA to consolidate select Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center located at Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi.The NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) mission is to provide timely, accurate, high quality, cost-effective, and customer focused support for selected NASA business and technical services.GDIT has an opportunity at the NSSC for a Lead HR Awards Specialist to contribute to our success in providing services for NASA’s Awards and Recognition Program.  This will be a full-time position onsite at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.The Lead HR Awards Specialist will be responsible for providing functional and administrative leadership and support to NASA’s Awards and Recognition Program. This includes:
  • Oversight and production of delivering Agency-level recognition items to Center Awards Officers for award ceremonies.
  • Establish and support the Agency Expert Panels (EP).
  • Provide functional and logistical support as well as production oversight to the annual Agency Honor Awards Ceremony.
  • Establish and maintain functional area budget.
  • Work with high-level executives on deadlines including expedited approvals and deadlines.
  • Develop the Agency Honor Award Nomination Call Letter.
  • Work with Awards community on employee awards/recognition.
  • Produce and distribute Agency approved Center-level awards materials to the Center for award ceremonies.
  • Administration of the Agency External Honor Awards Program.
  • Awards records management, maintenance, and reporting.
  • Support the purchase and maintenance of an appropriate inventory of NASA-determined and approved Agency-level award items.
  • Maintenance of all Agency electronic award certificate templates.
  • Coordinate and provide required training for current and new resources to maintain successful operations within the service activity.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and timely deliverables of contractual documentation to include Service Delivery Guides, work instructions, data requirement documents (DRDs), and procedures related to awards services.
  • Report on performance standards and service level indicators (SLIs), monitor performance, and initiate corrective actions to meet targets.
  • Provide input on strategic workforce planning and other technical leadership activities for the HR Service Provider (SP) organization.
  • General leadership duties to include: setting priorities, assigning work, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing input to budget needs, coaching and developing employees, approving leave, and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate.


  • 8 years of Human Resources experience required. Prior experience with support to an awards and recognition program preferred.  
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of PC-based computers and software experience using the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow Case Management preferred.
