GDIT is seeking an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting IT infrastructure program in support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As a hands-on Cloud Network Engineer, you will work within a team of architects and engineers to design and implement Cloud Network solutions for both AWS and Azure. This role will assist in developing network architectures and networks documents based on best practices and tailored to the clients’ needs and infrastructure. You will work with software developers to ensure smooth migrations to the Cloud. In this role, the candidate should have a strong understanding of cloud network configurations and various ways of technically networking the environment should one approach not be suitable.
All in all, you should bring a solid cloud network/technical background with hands-on experience conceptualizing, strategizing and deploying Cloud network solutions. Position is for full time employment and will be based remote with travel less than 10% of the time to Research Triangle Park, NC.
Primary responsibilities include:
Working knowledge of traditional and cloud networking fundamentals:
Implement, support, and maintain 24x7 network services serving as one of the highest levels of escalation for network and security issues.
Make ongoing recommendations of cloud network policies and standards.
Manage multiple medium- to large-scale projects in a fast paced challenging environment.
Quickly turn business problems into technical solutions.
Manage cloud configurations and the deployment of assets in compliance with established technology policies.
Recommend technical solutions that will enhance performance, increase redundancy, and add flexibility to the existing infrastructure.
Indepth understanding of Cloud technologies:
AWS Transitive Gateway (TGW)
AWS Security Groups
Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues.
Maintain system and network availability and monitor network services.
Design and implement data communication architectures including: integration of applications, data, and other infrastructure architectures
Document activities such as incident resolution and system changes with regular participation in change control activities that comply with ITIL change management.
Update devices as required to maintain current patch levels and ensure configuration backups are performed and archived regularly
Work directly with customers IT staff and/or Network Consulting vendors to implement, troubleshoot, and optimize networking solutions.
BS or equivalent plus 5 years related experience, or MS plus 3 years related experience
5+ years’ experience with AWS & Microsoft Azure Cloud with detailed knowledge and understanding of network aspects to Cloud systems.
