Business Intelligence Legacy Services (Mainframe) Lead

Our work depends on  a BI Legacy Services Lead joining our team to support a federal government services contract in Quantico, Virginia.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a BI Legacy Services Lead supporting a federal government customer, you will be trusted Assist DCSA management with BI legacy mainframe hardware and software development, operations, and maintenance.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Create and maintain technical documentation for the systems support organization.
• Ensure that all work is completed using the documented procedures, include updating and maintaining tickets, change requests, and documentation.
• Develop, maintain, and execute DR plans where the recovery site is geographically remote for recovery. These plans are for the communication aspect of the DR implementation and include planning, creating, reviewing, and documenting revisions.
• Research, plan, document, review, and implement technical and engineering support in the broad range of maintenance and utilization of software with an emphasis on installed IBM z/OS DR.
• Provide development of implementation and installation plans for IBM Mainframe projects. The implementation plan should include detailed steps and requirements to successfully implement OSs, software and hardware upgrades, or installations to IBM System z/OS mainframe platform.
• Create and deliver detailed installation and upgrade documentation, using Government-specified software, processes, and formats. This documentation shall include detailed dataset names, configuration parameters, and installation or upgrade procedures used to install or upgrade the IBM mainframe OS, software, or hardware.
• Participate in planning and executing database migrations, application software upgrades and migrations.
• Analyze requirements and recommend software and hardware solutions.
• Assist DoD business partners in the development of the requirements for SMS constructs to satisfy the data set lifecycle management objectives.
• Plan and implement a DR process that recovers DASD volumes at a remote site when the volumes must be recovered using storage cartridges.
• Design, plan, implement and configure FICON switches interfaces for z servers, disk, and tape storage subsystems.
• Serve as a technical POC for DR exercises, including creating and implementing input and output definitions; breaking, starting,  and stopping data replication processes; restoring OS and ISV software to the DR box; performing IPL of the DR environment; and working with other entities to successfully implement the DR exercise cutovers.
• Participate in the planning, creating, and revising documentation for storage management exercises.
• Understand and document application and system software integration methods with IBM mainframe and peripheral hardware.
• Research, document, and provide recommendations in storage system design and development.
• Plan, configure, and implement ServerPac and Custom-Built Product Delivery Option (CBPDO) to install or upgrade software products to carry out software migrations and conversions.
• Research, analyze, and document hardware service operations and recommend changes, improvements, and solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Have a working knowledge of the IBM Enterprise Server environment; have a sound understanding of z/OS, Time Share Option (TSO), Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), and Job Entry Subsystem 2 (JES2), Customer Information Control System (CICS), Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM), and must develop a thorough understanding of the Personal Investigations Processing System (PIPS) application job stream.
• Experience managing an enterprise IBM mainframe environment.
• Experience with planning, procurement, and lifecycle management of enterprise IBM mainframes.
• Must currently possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance
