Purpose: The Digital Services Data Center Networks organization is looking to obtain a Data Center Networks Engineer Manager that holds a TS/SCI with Poly clearance for a position in Annapolis Junction.

Position overview:

Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNS and Cloud infrastructure. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short-and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.

  • Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organization objectives.
  • Manages operations of network engineering center to ensure optimal operation and maintenance of systems. 
  • Provides diagnostics to maintain equipment and troubleshoots and resolves matters of significance. 
  • Assigns and oversees the work of network engineering personnel to ensure timely and accurate service and technical support to customers. 
  • Ensures timely response to customer emergencies and outages during working hours and on an on-call basis to provide optimal service levels. 
  • Assists client in developing network plans and in designing and implementing new or modified LAN/WAN to ensure effective business solutions. 
  • Conducts network systems analyze according to the standards and methodology consistent with technical requirements and to ensure proper analysis and documentation of network capabilities. -Selects and hires employees. 
  • Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions. 
  • Motivates and rewards employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and company guidelines
  •  Prepares and recommends operating and personnel budgets for approval -Monitors spending for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary. 
    Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 
     

Requirements: Full-Time 40Wk/On-call

Cleared: TS/SCI cleared with Poly required

Certifications: Security+, CASP or CISSP

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ years’ experience in Information Technology

Travel: up to 10% may be required
