At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Engineer supporting the customer, you will be trusted to lead multiple IT development and operational projects and activities, and deliver tangible results on complex technical efforts. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Evaluate and document IT system/network architectures
  • Develop and maintain systems requirements documents (SRDs) for technical requirements
  • Analyze data to generate metrics to assist in decision-making and strategic planning
  • Document, evaluate, and optimize business processes through the implementation of IT and hardware tools and solutions.
  • Define current and future system and user requirements for entire project lifecycle, to include Program Management Plan development.
  • Interface with Stakeholder departments to facilitate collaboration of information
  • Work with developers and other technical SMEs to implement technical solutions to optimize business processes at the appropriate security accreditation level.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge Management and Systems Engineer who specializes in developing and refining complex data management processes and procedures using Agile project management methodologies; SharePoint knowledge required. Experienced delivery results on challenging technical programs; Experienced working independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple high priority projects simultaneously; Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills; good interpersonal, organizational, writing and briefing skills and working with resources at all levels of the organization; Proficiency with MSWord, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

Provides guidance for the preparation and maintenance of all documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.

Provides guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.

Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.

May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)

Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and digital systems engineering.

Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency.

Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure.

Implements, manages and enhances Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools.

Creates, maintains, and reviews Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Desired State Configuration (DSC) and/or Puppet configuration management tools to support the provisioning infrastructure.

Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific technology.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 15+ years of experience
