While hundreds of first -time investors are turning to the markets to help pay for their homes, send their children to college and secure their futures the mission of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is becoming all the more vital.  GDIT is excited to support the SEC in as it seeks to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.

The SEC ISS program is a comprehensive IT program charged with operating, managing, and advancing the SEC’s IT infrastructure. Our dynamic program team of IT leaders and large and small business partners is seeking bright, energetic and talented individuals to join us as we bring our innovative IT Service Delivery solutions to SEC. Currently, we are seeking a Windows Engineer. The selected candidate must a US Citizen (without dual citizenship) and be able to obtain a Public Trust Suitability clearance, per contract requirements.

Job Description:

Mid-level Windows Solutions Engineer supporting a Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 and 2019/2020 physical and virtual infrastructure. Responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting the overall server architecture in a 7,000 user, multi-site environment.

Duties include supporting and monitoring the environment on a daily basis, day-to-day server operations, troubleshooting problems, and working assigned infrastructure projects and tasks. The engineer maintains responsibility over all Windows servers and the Active Directory domain, including the associated accounts, permissions and group policies. The engineer must have the ability to work closely with external entities to upgrade/modify server infrastructure, add new requirements and troubleshoot server related issues. Needs to be able to create, maintain, evaluate and keep documentation updated, i.e. backup procedures, software and hardware lists, proper naming convention, proper IP address, etc.

The engineer will perform preventive maintenance; monitors and optimizes performance of servers, collects, analyzes, and prepares usage and performance statistics. Will also monitor system performance, troubleshoots hardware and software problems, installs and maintains system, application, and communications hardware and software. Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting a must, Clustering and SAN experience a plus. The position is in Washington, DC.

A rotating evening shift (noon to 9pm) and occasional on-call support are a requirement.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience

Relevant Certifications (i.e., MCSE, MCSA, MCP)

3-5 Years Relevant Experience

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of Active Directory and underlying concepts, including GPOs, DNS, ADFS, LDAP, Kerberos, sites, forests, trees, domains, trusts, security and resource principals, FSMO roles, etc..

  • Understanding of Microsoft Server operating system, services, and concepts

  • Experience working with and administering a large Windows 2012/2016 infrastructure and ability to use PowerShell

  • Experience building servers from scratch or image using common imaging tools

  • Experience with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server [configuration and maintenance]

  • Exposure to the SharePoint 2019 and SharePoint Online

  • Experience with 3rd party management tools and backup software (NetBackup, NetIQ AppManager, HP Insight Manager, EAMS)

  • Experience with virtualization administration and tools (VMWare)

  • Experience with various Microsoft Server products, including Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, SCCM, etc…

  • Experience with the ServiceNow helpdesk ticketing system or other enterprise-level ticket management system a plus

  • High level of initiative and self-confidence along with strong verbal and written communication skills is important.

  • Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others based on an established project plan

  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Skills in communicating effectively orally and in written format

  • Managed multiple priorities simultaneously
