Candidate must be an US citizen, and able to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance and USCIS EOD to start work
Must be local to the DC metro area for client meetings
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Task Lead/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team on an IT operations project supporting DHS USCIS. The candidate will provide infrastructure/cloud/datacenter operation services for large enterprise and be able to see the “big picture” while focusing on the data operations solutions (physical (DHS Data Centers, Cloud, Hybrid). Candidate will act as a trust advisor to the USCIS IT operations customer leadership and responsible for engineering, architectural vision and, strategic planning of the agency’s IT infrastructure efforts.
This position works under the general guidance of program manager and USCIS EID leadership, in an Agile, DevSecOps fast-paced, rapidly changing, collaborative environment.
The task lead must possess strong leadership and excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
Provide short and long-term enterprise strategies, and vison to take the IT infrastructure to next level and lead technical solutions.
Shall have proven troubleshooting and analytical skills, strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision-making skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Provide infrastructure requirements for all environments and details for the installation of hardware in the field and in data centers
Conduct a technical review on the Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM). After ROM is complete, the contractor is responsible for the buildout of the system or application in the on-premise environment
Work closely with the Engineering, Network and Development teams to establish detailed and documented information required for systems and application integration into production environment and for the acceptance for ongoing O&M.
Capture the “As-Built”, Version Description document (VDD) or Runbook documentation authored by various teams (Detailed information will be provided by USCIS EIDOCS) and develop relevant artifacts needed for IT operations
Provide oversight, technical guidance, monitor activities, coordinate work between various teams, and manage all Hosting work
Keep the O&M Kanban board or current tool updated to optimize the flow of all work performed.
Provide bi-weekly Infrastructure health checks consulting the operations teams and the leads
Guide and help the IT operations area task leads in planning. Guide the work of junior technical staff
Work with program and technical staff in all aspects of daily work
Fully engage, lead, direct and guide the Operations teams in the implementation of a DevSecOps practices and automation of repeated tasks for supporting IT
Support information assurance process in a technical role by complying with technical controls, technical checklists etc.,
Assist and mentor junior members on the team
Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
10+ years of working knowledge of numerous vendors’ products such as Cisco, VMware and others that support Windows/Unix/Linux environments for large IT infrastructure consisting of 1000s of servers (Domain, Web, Applications, Database and others), and associated networking and other IT operational devices
10+ years of architecture, analysis related to design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support large scale on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments with virtualization
10+ years’ experience performing a variety of engineering designs on operational IT environments in Windows Physical, Cloud and virtualization software environments such as VMware’s vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems
10+ years’ experience performing a variety of engineering and operational related assignments associated in Unix/Linux in Physical, Cloud and virtualization software environments such as VMware’s vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems
10 + years’ knowledge and experience of scripting language such as PowerShell, with knowledge of ANSIBLE, and Middleware (Oracle Application Server, IIS, Apache and other web and application servers)
Working knowledge of AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud Services, and other Cloud environments
Working knowledge and Experience with Agile, DevSecOps practices and ITIL processes and their application with enterprise-level IT systems and their operations
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Cloud and other professional certifications
Experience with any DHS agencies or entities

Travel is primarily local travel in the DC metro area for the current portfolio but could potentially expand to both national and overseas locations as the portfolio grows
