GDIT is seeking a 5G Core Network Engineer for our rapidly growing 5G Technology team to design, plan, and build communications networks. You will configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN / WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols supporting LTE and 5G cores. You will need to be able to perform work in our Columbia, MD office, with the opportunity to work remotely. Key Responsibilities include:
Perform all aspects of network engineering including network design, performance monitoring, integration, upgrade and trouble shooting of 5G SA and NSA cores
Test, validate and deploy parameter standards in concert with RF engineers to deliver optimum end-to-end network performance
Coordinate with RF engineers, transport engineers, software engineers and other experts to support various applications utilizing 5G network
Interface with OEMs to upgrade core 5G core network
Support and review proposals and provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution and proposals
Support a team of top solutions architects in the CTO Organization to develop solutions for our extensive next generation 5G communications and data pipeline for the US Government.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven knowledge of IP technologies and web based services
15+ years of experience with Core and EPC engineering including MME, HSS, P/S gateways, edge computing, routers and other elements
Experience working with wireless communications, Software-Defined Networks, Radio Access Networks,
Creative thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
Willingness to travel (up to 20%)
Clearable US citizen
Active Secret Clearance or higher preferred.
