Job Description

Systems Engineer Advisor

\GDIT is seeking a Systems Engineer Advisor to support Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Dam Neck Activity (NSWCDD DNA) program. NSWCDD utilizes Research & Development and Engineering to develop innovative, affordable, and effective threat-driven integrated training systems, cyber warfare, fleet readiness and sustainment solutions for the Naval Warfighter.  NSWCDD DNA has a requirement to design, develop, produce, deploy and test prototypes in support of its stated mission.

The following are representative of the possible programs, sponsors, systems and sub-systems to which the required technical support may be applied:  

·        Surface Training Advanced Virtual Environment - Combat Systems (STAVE-CS)

·        Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) Integrated Combat Systems

·        Maritime Sensors Program Management Office (MSPMO)

·        PMS 339 – Surface Training Systems

·        PEO IWS 80 - Atlanta Integrated Combat Systems

·        Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)

·        Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)

·        Office of Naval Research (ONR)

HOW AN ELECTRICAL/SYSTEMS ENGINEER ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Communicate with stakeholders to identify what they want to accomplish with a system
  • Use expert-level administration and optimization of hosts and servers to ensure high degree of availability and appropriate resource management
  • Developing hardware components such as radar transceivers, RFDUs, antennas, signal processors, and other electronic circuits required for radar and signal processing systems.
  • Standardize and automate processes using scripting technology
  • Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and leverage IT staff for routine tasks by clearly documenting design, maintenance, and support procedures
  • Conducting tests and simulations to verify the performance and functionality of equipment and signal processing systems, including analyzing and interpreting test results.
  • Test software routinely for bugs, redundancies, and security issues
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis of service interruptions and establish preventive measures
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as system specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals.



WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
● Required Experience: 8+ years of full time professional experience working as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer in development, design, and prototyping of requirements or Computer Engineer in development, design, and prototyping of requirements.
● Required Technical Skills:

·  Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching

·   Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing

·  Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems

·   Knowledge of Git or other version-control software

● Security Clearance Level: Secret


● Required Skills and Abilities:

·        Manage and monitor all infrastructure and systems installations, including configuration, testing, and maintenance

·        Implement and maintain strategies for backup, security, and redundancy

·        Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively

·        Craft custom scripts that reduce the need for human interaction

·        Enable faster and smarter business processes and develop meaningful analytics

·        Engage regularly with upper management, providing reports on project status, activities, and achievements

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
