Medical Record Abstractor

Job Description

GDIT is seeking a Medical Record Abstractor to review medical records, collect clinical information and enter the data into abstraction software in accordance with contractual and organizational guidelines. Essential duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Review medical records and other source documents and collect clinical data according to specifications and guidelines provided by the customer. 
• Data collected may include disease-specific data elements (Sepsis), laboratory documentation, and medications.
• Accurately enter data into abstraction software using a personal computer, keyboard and/or mouse. Must have reliable home internet.
• Follow all established processes and procedures.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Consistently meet or exceed productivity and accuracy standards established by the customer and/or the Company.
• Consistently meet attendance standards established by the Company.
• Interact appropriately with peers and other co-workers. Contribute to building a positive team culture.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Position is currently remote due to Covid-19, but candidates must be able to commute to York, Pa office as needed for technical assistance and training activities.

Education

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• LPN or Medical Assistant a plus. 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• At least two (2) years’ experience in work involving hospital medical records review or equivalent.
• Pertinent education/certification may substitute for work experience. 
• Remote work experience preferred.
